Vice President, Shell Global Retail Network
Emma FitzGerald was appointed Vice President, Shell Global Retail Network on 1 May 2010. Shell Retail operations currently span 45,000 petrol stations in 60+ countries, serving 10 million customers every day.

Emma also became a non executive director of Cookson Group plc on 1 August 2011.

During her 18 year career with Shell, Emma has worked in a variety of technical, strategic and general management roles based in Asia and Europe.

It was in 2003 when Managing Director of Shell Gas (LPG) UK that Emma had her first contact with the Windsor Leadership Trust through her participation in the Consultation for Newly Appointed Strategic Leaders.

In 2004 Emma moved to Beijing with her husband David to take up the position of Managing Director of Shell China/Hong Kong Lubricants. China is a key strategic market for Shell and during her tenure the business quadrupled in size through a combination of organic growth and the acquisition of Tongyi the largest independent Lubricants brand in China in September 2006. Shell is now the largest International Oil Company operating in the Lubricants market in China.

Emma returned to the UK in 2007 to lead Shell Downstream Management Consultancy. This is a talent development vehicle with the remit to accelerate the development of high potential talent seen as future leaders of Royal Dutch Shell. The work they do is targeted at tackling the big strategic issues facing Shell businesses.

Emma holds a DPhil in Physical Sciences from Balliol College, Oxford University and an MBA from Manchester Business School. In her spare time her passions are photography, hill walking and mentoring of technology startup companies. As a dyslexic herself, she also supports organisations helping children and adults wiht learning difficulties to find ways to realise their own potential.
